Why a 120 Club?

The Canterbury District 120 Club was formed in November 2000 and held its first draw in January 2001. It was founded as part of the District's effort to raise money for The Kent County Association Bell Restoration Fund.

It was some four years earlier that the idea of a 100 type of club was raised  by the Canterbury District at a County Committee meeting. At that meeting the County Committee felt that it might not be able to get  the support of 100 members to join, and  also that the outlay of £10 might put people off joining such a club.

Mal Williams brought the idea again to the Maidstone District Committee as one of many ideas of raising funds, and it was he who set about presenting this way of raising funds for the BRF (Bell Restoration Fund), finally putting together a 120 club on the lines of other 100 clubs in the area. A 120 Club he felt was more in line with ringing, and was so named. Mal became its first promoter and set up a database with his son Darren's help.

I have taken on the role of Promoter for the Canterbury District 120 Club and with a lot of help from Mal and Darren have set up the Canterbury District 120 club and this website

When members buy a share in the Club, their numbers are displayed on the website, and are also listed in the newsletter each month. I hold a book with all numbers so far allocated. If you wish to choose your number give me a ring on 01227 455659 or send me an email on brians120@btinternet.com and I will tell you if it is available.

At the end of the year members will be invited to rejoin by letter.

The draws will take place at the monthly KCACR Canterbury District meetings and winners will be notified by post with their prize-winnings and a letter.

Winning numbers are posted on the 120 Club section of the KCACR website and are shown in the quarterly newsletter. You may also write or phone me for an up-to-date list.

The rules of the 120 Club are printed on the application form that all Club members must sign. Payment may be by cash, standing order or cheque made payable to "KCACR Cant Dist 120 Club", but please do not send cash through the post.

EXTRA COPIES OF ALL STATIONERY available on request.
